@RandyF I think your watch is ok and in it's original form.
Doesn't seem rational but this more modern style applied logo
Was used in 1958/9 concurrent with the old style long leg logo. I had a Seamaster from 1958 with the same
logo and explorer dial config.
Here's a couple of examples from my database I based my opinion on.
Note the Fat loop R, the hands, applied logo's, etc:


A few hour lume dots replaced on this one, but still original imo

Thanks so much for this! I was starting to get bummed out and this makes me breathe a sigh of relief. The guy I bought it from knows his watches and he would not sell me a watch without disclosing any pertinent information.

I have the same watch. Found among the old things grandfather. In my family, this watch was more than 50 years old. Unfortunately, they require cleaning and repair.
