Dear Friends, Let me share with you my new Love I have recently acquired this Ranchero style Seamaster. Ref 2937-3, cal. 267. Does anyone know if these are just SM branded Rancheros? case seems the same. please find pics attached. from a collectors point of view are these "Seacheros" of any particular interest? thanks guys, Tim
Very nice. There are some threads about these, if you use the search function: https://omegaforums.net/threads/vintage-railmaster-vs-ranchero.39466/#post-480873 https://omegaforums.net/threads/lets-see-some-30mm-manual-wind-omegas.1546/page-7#post-428182 Some of these are redialed to look like a ranchero: https://omegaforums.net/threads/hello-and-ranchero-question.35797/#post-405673
Nice pick up. Yes, there were seamaster branded versions like this. I don't know the reference numbers off hand, and I don't know enough about them to give you an opinion, but there are legit ones with seamaster on the dial.. https://www.google.ca/search?q=seamaster+2990
That's a cool watch. I'd expect to see that dial in a 2990 case though. I also have never seen the sunken hour markers on this dial, their shape and size is more similar to a 2914. The print on the numerals looks very different from mine, more flat, but there are tons of things I have never seen. Let's hear what @pitpro thinks.
It's utterly beautiful --but the case for sure isn't a Ranchero case. That doesn't mean there's anything wrong with it.
Thanks for your replies so far. I will order an extract OTA. just to check. Yes the sunken hour markers are special. it seems like as the lume has shrunk and used to be above dial level. such as is the case at 12, 3, 6...
Seamasters in Ranchero cases. 2990 on the left & 2996 on the right. Note the shape of the applied logo.
Nice find, congrats!!....wonderful! Yes, Railmasters have the sunken markers, but yeah, this is the first Ranchero/"Seachero" (good call!) that I've seen with sunken markers. And yes, this is not the case/ reference number I would expect to see fitted with this dial and movement. I think the extract would really be of great value....please share it in this thread when you get it back.... I like the Perlon strap by the way.
I don´t think the case is correct for that one. Should be a ref 2990 case At least I have never seen a ref 2937 with that dial before
I will keep you udated with my extract. i am very curious. this what I have also found on the net... there is another one with that reference and dial on Hodinkee http://shop.hodinkee.com/products/1950s-omega-seamaster-with-very-rare-dial?variant=16917565380
still waiting for the extract... Meanwhile another Seachero has shown up. http://www.ebay.de/itm/182282693492?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:ITPurchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network it is a beauty with those hands... love it. wonder if it may be called a pre-ranchero...
Yes, I saw that too....very nice indeed, and already bid well above $1000 with 8 days to go. It even has an original Omega crystal. But I'm still amazed by how yours has the recessed indices...can you see the SWISS MADE at the bottom?
Hey Div, Yes there is Swiss Made below 6 on mine. I have the impression that the watch om ebay also shows also sunken indices, however thicker lame.
