looking at this Ranchero in pieces Have to decide whether or not to buy Is it correct? Hands? Opinions please Thanks
Case is a correct 2990-1, dial looks correct IMHO and movement is correct cal. 267, but you have to get an extract if you want to confirm that that the movement have started its life in a Ranchero.
An ok black dial Ranchero sold on eBay a few weeks ago for 6500. This dial is considerably worse but still I would say a good deal at 1900

I have seen this seller sell many Ranchero hands recently. Unless they have a big stock pile of NOS parts...
The case is in terrible condition, especially the case back. Note how the lip of the back was pulled out, by what appear to be pliers. The 2990 case has a slot for an O-ring in the case itself and when the back is pressed in the lip of the back is seated since that it is held in the by the O-ring and provides a tight seal. It is likely the lip was pulled to improve the seal. In any case, the case back is damaged. As pointed out the BA hands are wrong. Movement may or may not be from a Ranchero. The one part that appears to be good is the dial. So are a dial and a bunch of parts worth 1900$ Maybe... but I would be a buyer at half that.
The fact that it’s complete but he’s selling it in pieces is a little concerning. Putting it back together is not exactly complicated, unless there’s an issue with the back as Joe noticed.
Sure thing. The dial does look good, so if someone has all the other parts it will make a nice watch. Best wishes, Joe
