I was wondering if someone could tell me whether this is an authentic Ranchero dial? I know that the case and movement are not correct but the dial and hands look ok to me. I've searched as many photos as I could and can't come up with obvious differences but I don't have the experience that others do. It just seemed odd to me that you'd take a Ranchero and franken it into a Seamaster case unless it was done well before the Ranchero's gained some popularity.

Excuse the dust and lint. It was shot with a macro lens. Thanks.

And the hands are stunning, less the seconds. Those only, would worth some $3-400.

Thanks guys. I thought it looked ok. Now I need to find the right case and movement and "un-Franken" it, lol.

What is the case reference on the one you have? The Ref. 2990 was used for Seamasters as well as Rancheros.

Dial looks nice, although I can't see the "Swiss Made" below the 6.

    Hope this helps,

After some searching and some help from members here (thanks John) I found a correct case and movement and had the watch "un-frankened". Unfortunately, I think the watchmaker thought he was doing me a favour and relumed the Seamaster donor. ::facepalm2::

    On to the Ranchero:
