I watched this one but with the over polished case and tired looking un-serviced movement I had to pass.
Early in the auction I asked the seller if there was 4 digit number on the case back. He added this picture...

The movement didn’t concern me, it was the correct 550 cal and can be serviced/improved as required.

The case wasn’t perfect but the caseback number was still visible and ultimately with these rare models, you can grow old waiting or lower your threshold for what’s acceptable. I was happy with the condition and wanted it but clearly someone else wanted it more. Ah well.

Decent example. One of the better ones that I have seen in some time.

Friend of mine bought this watch. It has a different dial and hands as all the others shown here. Does anyone here have seen a similar one or more info on that watch? I like the look to be honest and all looks "old".

Movement dates to late 50's but I have never seen an Omega dial with "Standard R.R.".
Possibly an old fantasy/redial? An Extract of the Archives may shed light on what this was originally.

I doubt that a black dial watch would be an official “railway approved” timepiece due to legibility concerns. As far as I’m concerned, every watch I’ve seen in the industry had a white dial with black numerals.
