Just arrived. Great dial. Correct crown on it's way. Big question. Is this lollipop center seconds hand original to this watch? I think it is. Opinions?
Is this question rhetorical/sarcastic? In all seriousness, clearly the second hand doesn't match. The colour. The patina. The aesthetic. Nothing about that is original.
To clarify, indeed the hand has been painted and is not in original condition. My question is if this type of lollipop hand was original issue with the 2914-6.
Hi Marc Is it a smidge too long ? I still prefer the appearance of MSN's example....so sticking with this config for the moment: Best - Neil
I would say that it was not originally fitted on ranchero based on my limited knowledge, but the good news is that it really looks like the lollipop style for CK speedmaster... edit : this should confirm the point...https://omegaforums.net/threads/seamaster-ranchero.27311/
Mike's is a stunner for sure (aren't they all) but isn't that type of lollipop more prevalent on a 2913/14755 SM300? A few other Railmasters appear to be out there with this "2998" type of lolli as well. Railmaster left.........SM300 right
Lastly, and this is quite important for a Speedie 2998 owner looking to add a lollipop, this Railmaster 2914 lollipop hand is not identical to a 2998 hand. The Railmaster hand is a bit shorter. Would certainly hate to spend thousands on a 2998 lolli and find it's incorrect. Had the WM install this 2914-6 lolli hand in a 2998-3 (center) flanked by lolli 2998-2s. The difference in the hand length is immediately apparent.
I didn't think it was original but now you have me guessing...I don't care if original I just think they look cool
Sure is, but the SM300 also had a very rare lolli version with a tip at the end, like yours - but it's shorter than both the 2998 and 2914 versions ... and very seldom seen. Nothing better, than "hands-on" comparison;-) Good job Marc, but was the 2914 sec hand not a bit loose on the 2998 when installed, since the hole size is a tad bigger?
Thanks Kim. Isn't the caliber hand stem size difference immaterial? like .02 mm?? Anyway, the hand didn't reside in the 2998 for long.
Correct, a 'tad' is 0.02mm, but someone once told me that small size differences matters in the dark arts of watchmaking/fixing ;-) No problem as long as it didn't stayed on. Just curious. Enjoy ...
