I have a relatives RAF watch who served in Burma as a Pilot officer with 211 squadron in 1945 along with comprehensive mission/sortie reports and was trying to find out a bit more about the watch as it seems a little unusual for the standard military issue.
Any help would be appreciated.

This is not a 9777 but a ref. CK 2242, also known as "Techron" which was used by the RCAF. It has the "interesting" 18 jewels movement.
The number 9777 was scratched by hand, maybe by a watchmaker during service, and the watch did not come this way from the factory...
The watch looks original in all its parts and has nice hands 馃憤
