Funny, whenever I say it reminds me of Daytona people think I'm crazy.
Also Daytona is 18k not 9k like video says. Makes the racing seem like a steal!

Case is too big, too thick and the date complication is a negative. It's less expensive than the Daytona, yes, but that's because it's not nearly the watch that the Daytona is. I'm willing to bet that even Lowflight agrees with me on this one.

If they made a no date version would you buy it? Movement is arguably better or just as good. It is thicker, but super light to to me.

I can see the similarities, but the Daytona is more clean imo. I wouldn't mind that Omega though.

I like the Omega a lot, and would like it more without the date. It's a great watch, no doubt. Great photo

That Daytona model is the only modern Rolex that I like, and I like it a lot. But I’m not willing to play the Rolex-related fun and games to get one.

Been there, done that. Ended up selling the Speedy Racing.

In short, the Speedmaster Racing is a better watch in every way except wearability (specifically, size). Of course, this would vary depending on the individual's wrist. The bezel on the Speedy also looks way better in real life for some reason, and makes the Daytona looks cheap.

    Why did you sell it?

You sold based on wearability? Value goes to daytona, but I don't sell my watches.

Man that Daytona got me thinking about selling some more of my vintage watches

I sold it because it looked comically large, and I have a 6.5-6.75" flat wrist

But it was definitely a great watch

Love the Daytona C, but that omega looks nice and way cheaper and easier to get.

Rolex and its tiny dial surrounded by a massive bezel, looks cramped and not the most legible chrono. The Speedy Racing is stunning, looks much better IRL.

Two things I have a really hard time understanding:
    a) The mystique around the Rolex Daytona.
    b) The obsession about DON speedmaster bezels.

Some very good posts on this thread, a few comments below

    - It will be interesting to see where Omega take the new 3861 calibre Speedies. Being METAS certified I think they will be much stronger competition against other chronographs and the Speedy Pro dial is the chronograph dial design benchmark.

    - The first round of Daytona ceramics were gifted with a small bottle of exclusive John Mayer and Ben Clymer drool.

    - Lovely to see no one in this thread bring up the old arguments on Rolex vs Omega value retention. Well played fellow OF members!

    - And now for bit of thread drift. I am not a massive fan of the Breitling brand, indeed, I will probably sell my SuperOcean Heritage 42 this year.

    However...(pause for dramatic effect)...

I do think the new Premier B01 Breitlings (on a leather strap) are as good as the Omega Speedy or the Daytona, though clearly the B01 are more dressy. The B01 chronograph movement is top notch + offers equivalent 5 year warranty. Photo below taken at Heathrow, showing that the B01 is not much larger than my trusty Explorer. The negative for me is the blingy Breitling bracelet.

And new 2019 B01 anthracite chrono is downright gorgeous (photo from Watchgecko).

If it was a choice between the white dial Daytona Ceramic and the white dial Omega Racing I would choose the Daytona on overall ergonomics and aesthetic look on the wrist, ignoring cost/pricing

I agree that the B01 is quite pretty. Out of curiosity, could you elaborate about what makes their newer movement good?
