Working on a project and came across a question I should know the answer to - did all of the Omega Grand Luxe watches include the bracelet with purchase or was it an additional expense? I'm looking at the earlier models with the brick bracelet. Could you buy a Grand Luxe without the bracelet? I know it was an add-on for the De Luxe, what about the Grand Luxe? Thanks.

It was not only a choice... there have been 2 different refs which differed in the shape of the lugs where the bracelet or strap "slips under" the hood - one for brick bracelet and a different one for strap only.

They came with three strap options. Brick, BoR and leather. *for the deluxe. The grand luxe only came on leather or brick

True for the earlier grand lux models - the 354 and 501/505 connies. AFAIK the later grand luxe models (including the cal. 504 models) had the same case whether they had the brick bracelet or a leather strap.

To illustrate the point, here is a pair of 18k pink gold cal. 505 grand luxes in my collection:

    Case with leather strap:

And case with the brick bracelet:

There's also the 18K 7077 flat-link as @cristos71 has which looks absolutely epic on the Deluxe

If you peruse this 1959 Swiss Catalog (only in German), it is clear that Omega treated the bracelet watches as a separate reference.

    http://www.old-omegas.com/catde59.html

You can see the extra cost in francs, but remember that is was about 4 francs per U.S. Dollar then. Then factor in inflation to get an estimate of today's cost.

    Hope this helps,

I appreciate the replies. When was the brick bracelet introduced? It looks like the first iteration of the Grand Luxe offered a Milanese bracelet. Anyone have an approximation of the year the brick bracelet started? Thanks again.

I find the brickwork bracelet very, very nice on the eye, but I just don´t have that many opportunities to don a tuxedo and Grand Luxe in my mundane life :D For me the flat link is contemporary enough in design to wear anywhere and with anything and to not feel self conscious at all.
