I’ve recently picked up anOmega Deville Model numbed 168.1050 with a 1109 calibre movement.

The Omega vintage database dates this model to 1994, and links it to the 1109 movement. The Renfft database dates the 1109 cal movement to 1993. So far so good...

However, the serial number on the Caseback and movement is 496xxxxx, which websites seem to date back to 1985. I’ve found a number of examples of 1109 movements online, and all seem to have serial numbers in the mid 49m range - which seems odd if movement only dates from 1993.

I am think my watch is genuine, as it seems identical to other examples of this model that I’ve seem online and the serial numbers on the other 1109 movements. I also can’t imagine that it would be high on a fakers list of model to copy! I am just wondering why there is such a discrepancy between the date of serial number and the date of model/movement number?
