    Hi guys

I have been looking for a replacement crystal for a 145.022 speedy just in case I might need one in the future. I thought that the ones offered on eBay are to pricy right now and checked a local parts dealer. He said that he would have one for me that should fit and gave me the following piece.

He told me that the reference is ref 5077. Is this a correct crystal for a 145.022?

    Thanks for your opinions.

A little addition to my post. I think the Omega logo on the glass looks like the number 2. glass shown in MWO.
Should the tension ring be silver or black colored?

    Thank

5077 is correct; black is correct for your watch.

The correct replacement crystal for a 145022 case is 063PW5139.

@Archer : Thanks once again for your helpful answer. Do you know for which watch reference a ref 5077 glass is?

Did those glasses realy got that expensive lately? Has this to do with a recent price increase from Omega?

Yes prices went up considerably not long ago - nearly tripled in price overnight.

063PW5077 is a discontinued part number by the way...replaced by 063PW5139.

Thanks again @Archer. So a 063PW5077 glass should be OK for an old speedy? What puzzels me is that the tension ring of the glass I posted isn’t black. Is the glass I posted really a ref 5077? Are there sub-references for different colored tension rings? What watch references was a 5077 glass fitted?
Sorry to bombard you with questions!

    Cheers

I have no idea what crystal is in your watch, or what the crystal is that you showed that was outside of the watch. They could be genuine Omega, they could be aftermarket (fake) Omega, or they could just be some random crystal that someone installed based on size.

Please keep in mind that not everyone uses the proper crystals or other parts when they do work on watches, and some actively avoid using genuine parts due to either the cost or some perceived notion that the original crystals break easily when installing them (they don't in fact and I've installed hundreds without incident, so the complaints are related to a problem with either the equipment or techniques used when they are being installed).

Also please keep in mind that "5077" is almost meaningless as a part number, because it's only a partial parts number. There are different versions of the 5077 crystal, with different coloured tension rings, so someone telling you that "5077 is correct" is only giving you part of the information you need. Sorry but every post I make here takes time away from me servicing watches, so I'm not going to go searching for every case number that every 5077 crystal might fit just for interest's sake.

The information you need to know is already in this thread, that for your watch you need a 063PW5139 crystal, and personally I would not buy a crystal that has been removed from the package, because then it could be anything. As user @dscoogs has posted, get a crystal still in the package that looks like his does - then you know it's the right crystal and genuine. Anything short of that and you can't be sure.

    Cheers, Al

Thanks for taking your time to answer my questions. I really appreciate it. I was just curious about the glass and thought it might have been fitted on earlier speedies.

    I just ordered a 063PW5139 in its package ;)
