    Hi all,

I'm doing my vintage Omega teething here, thanks everyone for the help so far. As answers to my questions trigger more questions, and more interest for this stunning era of design, I hope the community doesn't mind me for creating a few threads. If I'm going overboard, please let me know.

What are your thoughts about the dial on this 176.007? It is utterly confusing, because of the black chrono hour dial, as well as the hour markers...

I believe it should look like this instead:
    (see pic inserted).

What do you expert think about that dial?

    Thanks everyone :)

I created a cal. 1040 dial encyclopedia to help myself sort through anomalies like this. Link is to a safe google drive hosted pdf. Feel free to download or just refer to the link for web viewing.

Anyway, short answer is that yes that second dial is more appropriate or expected for ref. 176.007, but the first dial is seen on 007 (and 176.005 for that matter) often enough that it may have been an original option. Could have been installed as a service dial at some point as well.

Brilliant Andy! Saved that straight on to iBooks - I'm sure I'll be referencing that resource a lot. Hats off for taking the time to put it together!

Thank you Andy. This is extremely useful :)

thanks everyone. The community on this board never ceases to impress me!

(and I like the "original" dial much better... The killer is the "thick" hour markers for me. Takes the balance away from the dial imho!)
