I stumbled upon a Constellation Pie Pan Dial on E-bay with no Omega Reference number. I have been on the hunt for a replacement dial for my Omega Constellation 2782 that has a terrible re-dial. Any idea if this might be a suitable replacement? I have e-mailed the seller trying to gather some more information but have yet to hear anything back with only two days left on the auction. Any insight would be helpful. http://www.ebay.ca/itm/NICE-CLEAN-OMEGA-CONSTELLATION-PIE-PAN-DIAL-FOR-PARTS-/182044313805Purchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network?
Probably moisture damaged watch, lightly cleaned dial... Wouldn't worry about the logo, the Seamaster I gave my girlfriend looks the same, and that watch is rather pristine. Edited to reflect BartH's edit.
The font looks ok to me but those lume dots were added later. Not original. The problem are the movement and the dial feet. Case ref 2782 is powered by a 354 and this dial looks like it was for a 2852 which hosts a 501 or 505. You should know for sure that dial has the correct feet for cal 354 before you bid. Hoi.
Thank you for the advice Hoi, I will do a little research and see if this dial will work with a 2782 and a cal 354. Thanks for the heads up on the actual reference it likely came from, as a relative new collector it can be tricky to differential all the pie pan dials that were available on the constellations. This forum and its members have been a great resource. Thanks
If it is a dial for a Ref. 2852 with a rotor cal. 501/505, it will not fit a bumper movement. gatorcpa
Isn't unusual for the cross hairs/ reticle lines to go right through the printing? All examples I have seen there is a break in the line.
That's exactly what it supposed to look like. I think Hoi has it nailed. Genuine original dial with aging and aftermarket crude lume dots. Likely for rotor movements. gatorcpa
