    Hi,
I was looking at this cal.265 for sale on eBay and saw a reference number on the outside of the case.
Does that mean it is some kind of an unoriginal case?
Btw, the dial looks original but Not really sure.

    Have a happy new year!

    Short answer--yes.

However, this was common is 1950's Argentina. It does reduce the value of the piece substantially.

    Hope this helps,

I think that's a hallmark for 18K, not a ref. number, on the case back.

I think it's a fake or custom case: doesn't properly fit the dial and an improper Swiss-style 18K hallmark.

Ok, so I'll stay away from that watch and keep looking for the right one.
Thanks a lot for your expertise guys.

Actually TWO marks on the back.

Reference number of some sort and an 18K mark.

Pretty typical South American type case.
