Hi gents, Could a watch similar in type to the one below be outfitted with a bracelet like below? Should one add hoops, does the bracelet's fixation system work? Any other idea what else would work? Thanks for your thoughts. http://www.ebay.fr/itm/VINTAGE-FIRT...594428?hash=item4d485de37c:g:elQAAOSwGOxXAMudPurchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network
Forgive if I add another image from the same seller, may give a better view of the ends which I assume are the same?
Oooh, this looks much better but comes from a different ad -- I didn't this picture in the item above, and I'd prefer not to take any chances. I'll have to double check all his offerings.
There are probably lots of ways to do it, but I imagine finding an affordable and elegant solution will be very hard (plus a lot of the solutions will give no torsional stiffness between the bracelet and the lugs, so the whole thing will feel floppy and twist easily unless the bracelet is fastened very tightly around the wrist). What is the width across the lug (from one side to side) ?
Actually I don't know yet because it's not this watch, it's one that has a similar type of lugs but I don't have pictures for the back. However I would imagine a hoop could be opened to be inserted even in a closed lug.
Looking at the lugs, perhaps a screwed T-bar pin http://www.watch-band-center.com/watchstrap-p21448h431s1869-T-Bars-Screwed-Bars-.html might be usable. Still leaves the problem of the strap - anything leather would have to be altered/custom.
Is "tortional stiffness" needed in a tiny ladies' watch? I'm not sure there's a lot involved in this one, http://m.ebay.fr/itm/Longines-Staybrite-/142071767164?nav=WATCHING_ENDEDPurchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network Or in mine below?
That's a good point I guess you wouldn't really know how it feels until you found a solution and wore it at your preferred tightness around the wrist. If you would wear something like that loose anyway, so perhaps more like a bracelet, then probably it doesn't matter. Make it loose enough and you could even have your own "reverso".
You would get tortional stability if you used a notched strap. I don't know if that's the correct term for it but it would look like this:- You would just need to add a couple of those screwed pins like @Mouse_at_Large suggested.
Hey gents, thanks for all of your help. I think I've found what's needed.... called a "hook end" bracelet. Of course you guys don't get to use those a whole lot but first I need to make sure the watch can be repaired. This, by the way, is the watch (seller's pic). Best regards, S
