A while back I had the opportunity to do some video work for a gentleman that travels a lot. Can you name the man I am talking to in the photo? Hint: one of his more famous quotes “Roger, Tranquility. We copy you on the ground. You got a bunch of guys about to turn blue. We’re breathing again. Thanks a lot.”

Assume you mean Charlie Duke. I don't recognize the other gentleman 😉

Love to hear more about the project and conversation.

You are correct! Retired Brig General, Apollo 11 CapCom, 10th man to walk on the moon, and youngest man to this day to have ever walked on the moon. He was wearing his Speedy although not the one from the moon. I asked him what happened to the watch he wore on the surface of the moon and he said that is the first thing they took off him getting out of his space suit at the end of the mission. It was on loan at the South Carolina State Museum. A genuinely nice fellow. I produced a montage video introduction for him and his wife to use when he does public speaking. Due to licensing agreements I cannot post it here.

Fun project. The General looks like he's enjoying himself!

I've seen pictures of some retired astronauts wearing their gold speedmasters. Was he by chance wearing that one? If not, do you recall which reference he was wearing?

Are you a Speedy fan yourself? The watch in the photo looks like it has an opposite crown? Makes me think of Zenith.

When I asked about the moon Speedy he said the one he was wearying was one he had worn for years. He said he had received one of the gold ones but it was in a safe. I was wearing my Seamaster 300m. Speedy fan yes, likely will be one for the future. Wearing a new Planet Ocean now.
