Is this the highest price you can import watches in USA , without customs taxes ? What would be the additional fees if a watch costs more than 800$?

I’ve yet to be charged anything but then I’m not buying expensive watches. This probably doesn’t apply that much for watches but if they were made here no import duties.

Here it’s about 18% (VAT, duties and other fees) for watches above USD190 landed cost.

I actually dont mind the 18%. But late last year our customs office applied a new rule requiring an import permit for items above USD1,000. Since am not in business of importing, doesnt make sense to secure an import permit (which import-export business establishments nornally apply for on an annual basis). So i end up paying more to engage a customs broker to front for me.

I don’t have the duty schedules at hand, but I do recall these things made a huge difference.
