    Hi everyone

I have never owned a vintage Omega watch before but I have fallen in love with a 1974 Geneve.

It has a blue dial and a 1030 caliber.

I do not like the strap and if I decide to buy it, it will be without the strap.

What do you guys think? Hope you'll help me out :)

(The price is in Danish Kroner which translate to an approximate of $ 575)

Nice watch, but I would personally get one from the 50s or 60s with either a cal. 26X or 28X. It was Omega's glory days. Others might be of a different opinion. I think $575 is high but it is worth what someone is willing to pay. Around $300 would sound more right to me.

I would wait and check out the sales section on this forum. Don't rush into your first buy.

BTW I am from Copenhagen myself :)

    Here are a couple of mine, a cal 285 from 1963 and a cal 267 from 1959

Yes, I fell in love at first sight but my wife quickly took a liking to it and I haven't seen it much since ::rant:

I don't think there are many omegas out there in that sort of condition for $300. I don't know if the dial is original or not (Genève's are not my thing) but if others confirm its not been messed with I'd go for it if I wanted it...

Do any of you know how to tell if the dial is an original?

I've got a linen dial almost exactly the same, but no seamaster branding.

I think the dial is original and in good condition. Not sure about the price in Denmark, but it's quite high compared to the US market. A good automatic Geneve of the same era usually sells for couple hundreds less on eBay.

Cool thanks - this is not an automatic. I'll write him and see if he'll come down in price :)
