Hi OF members. After opening my speed from 1982.
    upload_2019-6-9_12-27-31.jpeg

I found this caseback with the bad reference number DD145022 instead of ST145022

So my question are simple :
Is it possible that those two caseback were misplaced by omega due to close production between those two?
If not, do you think that someone could be interested. I mean can I sold it and how much?
Where to find a caseback with the good reference number ?
    Thanks a lot

It was probably swapped during a service by a careless watchmaker, its not unheard of for parts or even movements to get swapped this way.

That is from an Italian market special made in pretty limited numbers. You will need to find someone who for whatever reason needs a replacement caseback, and yours isn't perfect. Frankly I don't think it very likely. Its worth what someone will pay, and if there are no takers well its worth very little as a result, you may just have to sell it on to a less attentive or fastidious buyer who wont care what it says inside. If it bothers you, casebacks for the regular watch crop up on ebay from time to time, but I might be tempted to live with it.

I had something similar once and when I got the Extract it confirmed the watch was a DD145.022 - so probably the bicolore dial and hands were replaced somewhen to make it appear as a regular Moonwatch ;)

I believe the probability of having a DD converted into a Moonwatch is higher than having a regular Moonwatch with a caseback swapped with a DD :)

DD’s were produced from 1982 on, so it can well be a birth watch. If so, I have a correct dial for you. You can still order the DD bezel from Omega. The challenge will be the hands...

Get yourself an extract ! ...eeek, you can’t at the moment :p:D

There is no 851 movement it’s an 861.

    Dd145.022 and a regular 145.022 used the 861.

To me, getting an extract is the only way to make sure which reference belongs to your serial number, according to the Omega archives.

I wouldn’t start rebuilding a DD unless I am sure it really is a DD. But at the end it’s your watch - up to you :)

Well, maybe I got the last one then. :p

I will have a look on their intranet - I am pretty sure they are still available. You just have to go through a certified watchmaker to get one. ;)

This case was steel and 14k pale yellow gold.

The original 14k 1N (pale yellow gold) bezel is not available, however the replacement they list is an 18k 2N (light yellow gold) so you can still get a bezel, just not the exact shade of gold that was on the original.

The dials are no longer available, but the full set of hands is still available.

    Cheers, Al

Thanks archer went to omega boutique today they have as a replacement part :
set of hands luminova instead of tritium
    18k bezel ref 082BA1450022.

I’ll ask for an extract when the service will be available to be sure. And if it is a DD let’s bring her to its original shape.

For the bezel I prefer the original one so if someone heard about one selling around .
For the dial kov might have one in stock for me. :):):)
