After receiving my Speedy and having my brother drop it from about 24 inches onto asphalt all in the same day, I am understandably slightly paranoid about ensuring that everything with the movement/functions are okay.

When I push in the bottom/4 o'clock pusher, it can be depressed both when the chronograph has stopped after being engaged, and it can also be pushed in when the chronograph has not engaged in the first place.

For instance, if the chronograph is at 0 seconds/0 minutes/0 hours, I can still push in the bottom pusher. BUT, the bottom pushed cannot be pushed in while the chronograph is running.

Does this all sound correct? Not being able to depress the bottom pushed while the chronograph is in use is normal, I do know that.

Thank you for any and all advice! I'll be taking it to my watchmaker today to have it inspected. :)

It's normal.. Shouldn't be able to reset chronometer while it's running..

I have dropped several of my watches several times and apart from a few scratches they are fine, yours was designed to go to the moon, so it should be a tough little bugger. Try not to worry. :)

I think you should not push the zero action (bottom/reset) pusher while the chrono is running. Expectedly, it won't reset, but I believe it should actually be avoided.

I agree. I was just pushing to make sure it was "locked" like it should be.

Unless the chronograph is a true Retour en vol (Fly-back) then no you don't want to force the reset pusher with the watch running.

Your pushers are operating normally as others have said, and hopefully the damage to the rest of the watch is just cosmetic. To be honest, if the functions work as they should and the timekeeping is fine, then I doubt any other damage was done.

    Cheers, Al

Thank you, Al. It's comforting getting a word from a watchmaker.

Timekeeping is on point. It's about -6 seconds after 14 hours which is normal for an 1861 (I think). It'll be about -10 at the 24 hour mark.

Actually I think the tolerances for the 1861 are -1 to +11, so it shouldn't really be losing a lot of time. As I understand they are built to run slightly fast.

Also, the Speedy wasn't designed to go to the Moon, it's just happens to fit the requirements

Chronometer certification allows for - 4s so I'm sure the 1861 allowances are more than - 1s as it's not chronometer certified. Al will be able to confirm. Don't panic yet!

Tolerance for average daily rate for the 1861 is from -1 to +11 seconds per day. Target average rate is +5. Keep in mind this average is only over 3 positions, so the actual rate may vary from this when worn on the wrist.

    Cheers, Al

What kind of force are we talking about? Pressing really hard beyond the "play" of the pusher?
    Have a great weekend!

I'm not too worried, guys. It's running about +9/+10 seconds for the last 24 hours. It might be slightly magnetized for all I know.

Nothing is acting funky and my watchmaker said everything looks fine, so I'm not going to fret.

From what I've read in the past, people don't really panic unless it's exceeding +/- 20 sec/day.
