I recently got a new omega. Is the crown supposed to line up perfectly? Here's a pic. The top of the is at 4 o'clock position
I have only Rolex watches with screw down crowns. None of them line up. I'll have to start making a note as to other similar watches I run into, line up. Chances are, if they line up when new, after a few years, they may no longer line up. Threads wear, gaskets compress.
I know it's quite new and the gaskets haven't compressed yet and maybe it's just coincidence but.... Apart from the Quartz like accuracy and the stunning good looks this sm300 mc is impressing the shit out of me.
No, the crown does not align on the current models but Omega already has a patent for that. Maybe they will launch that crown system on future models
I have 2 that align and 2 that don't... (OK maybe cheating a little, the 2 that "align" aren't screw down crowns)
What about the little Omega symbol inside the hesalite? Should that be the right way up? I saw a new Speedmaster in an AD the other day and the symbol was sideways on, i.e. the opening pointing towards the crown.
Symbol on the crystal is completely random.. If yours lines up, it was either coincidence or someone went out of their way to align it. Mine points to 3 o'clock...
Knowing how anal some of my clients can be, I always line the crystal symbol up... The crown, as others have already said, is random. Cheers, Al
