I am in the market for a Speedmaster. One I looked at had kind of a mushy start/stop pusher. The reset pusher was quite crisp.

Can anyone shed some light on what a mushy pusher means and should it be avoided?

    Thanks-

The reset pusher on Calibre 861/1861 tends to be firmer to press and with a more pronounced click than the start/stop pusher, it'd be pretty low on my list of concerns.

Mine's the same. I think you'll find this is quite a common characteristic of chronographs; both my IWC Portuguese and CWC are likewise.

Is it pre-owned? The start/stop pusher will get used twice as often as the reset so it could just be normal wear. Or it's got dirt in it and needs a cleaning.

Yes, the watch is pre-owned. I took a pass as it was priced too high and the edge of the bezel had too many burrs. Your info is helpful and I will keep it in mind as I move forward.

I appreciate your reply and those of the others.
