·I know we have worst redials and we have the fakes thread, but what about completely cobbled watches. Real vintage cases and genuine parts- but they have been put together at some point and the seller either doesn’t know, or knows and hopes you don’t.
Let start with this guy:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Ch...=p2349624.m2548.l6249&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0
Looks attractive at first blush, nice Bakelite bezel, and late 60’s diver/chrono case, love it-love it…but wait
Those subdial hands and the design of the dial is 50’s ChronoSuisse, this case is late 60’s. And what happened to the telemeter track?? It’s being swallowed by the rehaut (dial is too large for the oculus). And gold markers on cream dial- that’s not appropriate to this case style…and the hands- not on that dial!
Around the back
Case and movement seems to match up for fit and period- the Landeron 248’s were late 60’s so that’s ok, but this watch is totally put together. All the fakery aside, even with a correct dial, this watch wouldn’t be worth the asking- but with this cobbled mess…the sum of the parts aren’t even half.
