ยทI have an odd problem with IWC's service centre that I wonder if anyone can give me advice on.
I have a vintage IWC (the one I posted about here: https://omegaforums.net/threads/iwc-ref-802-case-mystery.144595/) that needs servicing. Although I'd heard that IWC's own service centre can be a bit expensive I thought I might as well enquire about how much it would cost, so I filled in an online enquiry form. I was told that because this was a vintage watch they couldn't give me an estimate without seeing it first (not even a ballpark figure or a price list). I was encouraged to send it to IWC's appointed service centre in London (I'm in the UK), which I did using a fancy expandable foam box and a prepaid DHL label I was sent.
That was two months ago... The tracking shows that the watch was delivered to RIS in London eight weeks ago today but I've had no formal acknowledgement of this and am still waiting for an estimate. My only contact for IWC is the online form and the associated email address, [email protected] (as well as a phone number that's never answered). When I email I sometimes get a very polite but totally uniformative reply from a Mr. Bolumetto, although a couple of recent emails have been unanswered.
How can I find out what is going on and get some idea of how long this process is going to take? Has anyone else had a similar experience? Does anyone have a direct phone number for RIS in London? (it's not listed anywhere online).
I'm beginning to wonder if IWC have just snaffled my watch and my only chance of getting it back again is to drive to RIS in London and kicj down a door somewhere... ๐ (note to lawyers - I'm joking).
