For sale is a very nice Breitling chronograph from the 1930s with an original black dial. The watch is relatively small but is in great condition for its age. Please see below for full information, and do message me if you have any questions.

Dial: The original, non-refinished black dial is in nice overall condition with some marks throughout but no discoloration. Original plume hands are in nice condition.

Case: The original 32.5mm chromed case (steel back) is in nice, unpolished condition. The only noticeable wear is a ding on the end of the bottom right lug; it’s visible only from the side and the lug itself doesn’t appear to be bent. No reference number on the case is correct for this era. It’s possible the crown is a later replacement (I’m unsure what the originals looked like).

Movement: The original Venus 170 movement runs, winds, and sets well and was serviced by “The German Watchmaker” (Vancouver BC) in December 2020. Update: I have noticed that while the timekeeping is great and the chrono functions usually work fine, occasionally shortly after the chrono is engaged, the chrono hand and the second hand will stop running. No issues when the chrono isn’t running, it only happens sporadically, and it resets and can be started again fine. I’m no watchmaker, so I’m not sure the issue.

Strap: Comes on the 18mm generic black alligator grain strap pictured. I’m not sure if it’s leather or faux leather. Rivet bracelet pictured is not included in the sale.

Price reduced to $1400 shipped globally. Bank transfer/Wise for payment. OF seller reviews are here. Returns are accepted if the watch is grossly misrepresented. Watch is located in the USA.

Nice watch. The Venus 170 became the ubiquitous ST19 used by Seagull after the Chinese bought the tooling from the Swiss and used them in their legendary 1963, if I am not mistaken.

That would be a Venus 175 IIRC. This watch has the much less common up-down Venus 170 movement.
