Another one for you vintage Speedmaster buffs. How do these look to you?

 

Looks like a very solid example. Replacement crown, but that's not a big deal. Fantastic bezel insert.

 

Given what you know now, what is your assessment it?

 

Kind of looks like the sweep second hand vacuumed up all of the lume from the dial and hands and is hogging it all for itself.

I second this notion. It's always great to hear from the experts, but the OP's should put a little more effort into it when starting a new thread

 

Hey guys-

Apologize if it seemed as if I just threw it over the fence. My intention was to get unbiased feedback, as I've found by mentioning certain things those are the ones that get specific attention, sometimes to the detriment of other stuff. In any case, my (novice) observations:

1) Bezel insert looks like it may be a replacement (NOS perhaps?). If it's original, wow.
2) Etching is a bit weak.
3) Replacement crown as mentioned. Pushers however seem original.
4) Lume on minute and hour hands is missing. The second hand lume looks good, but seems curiously like it may be bleeding out of the lines and onto the hand itself.
5) It looks like the dial lume is mostly intact, and has begun to age nicely
6) Serial matches caseback and year.

Overall, I thought it was a nice example, but of course wanted to make sure the experts here agreed, before I made any moves

 

I would add that the case is also pretty nice and thick, and you can still see some of the original bevels which is great.

The bezel insert could be original to the watch, but obviously it's impossible to say for sure. There is some wear above 110 and next to 130, so I would hesitate to call it NOS, but certainly it is in fantastic condition.

Overall it looks like a very nice example to me.

 

That case looks unpolished which is rare and the bezel is very good. Coupled with a decent dial I'd say this is one of the better ones to have been posted recently.

 

So @kidkimura, are you going to buy??

This one is a bit cheaper (~1k USD), and seems in pretty good condition as well. As mentioned in the ad, nice dial, case looks nice. On the minus side, etching is pretty weak, bezel is pretty beat up, and the minute and hour hands are non-original as is the crown. Should I just grab both and let them fight to the death?

 

not sure who is selling #1, but #2 is from a solid seller in Kringkily. Look like the dial has been re-lumed. what your criteria for purchasing? between the two, i would lean towards #1.

Yeah. That one has a bracelet too. A nice option. Buy all three.

 

One on European too posted recently. When it rains, it pours.

 

The one on European, I saw on Timezone for 7k even about 6 weeks ago. Nice little markup there.
