Is there a standard premium $ (%) for valuation on tropical speed master dials?

    What is tropical?

Opinions vary. Probably very hard to put it down to a standard.

Some folks think brown dials are nothing more than degredation.

Hope this turns out to be an enlightening - or at least interesting - thread.

    There's one opinion here: http://speedmaster101.com/blog/brown-dials/

I very much like the 145.022-69 about half way down the page.

I know what you mean. It's very subjective, not to mention one person's degradation, aging and mildew is another persons tropical. In my eyes, attractive tropical is uniform dark brown / chocolate color on the dial. The first time this came onto my radar was when I saw Chef Alton Brown's watch that he posted on his twitter. photo attached. later I saw the photo from the Moonwatch only book (also attached)
