Here is an interesting listing for a watch that looks a lot like a Polarouter/Polerouter of the early cal. 138SS generation, with a serial number, 154XXX, that is much lower than any Polarouter I have seen. The case has lugs similar to the Polarouter's bombé lugs, but not quite as integrated, and obviously the dial is different and there is no metal chapter ring as in the Polarouter. The unsigned crown also looks similar to the earliest unsigned Polarouter crowns. If this is a pre-Polarouter, does it suggest that Gerald Genta refined the case design, but did not design it from scratch, and that Genta's main contribution was the Polarouter dial and chapter ring? And by the way, I have never seen definitive evidence that Genta in fact designed the Polarouter. Does anybody have any?
