Hi I'm new here and need a bit of advice from you guys as to what's happened to the lume and the hands and if the bezel has been changed with the dot next to 90 and why someone would polish a case? And if you can pick anything else up that I missed?

I’m no expert. Just a guy getting in to this market. But that bezel is wrong—from a 145.022-69 or later. Plus, it’s not the best DN90 bezel I’ve seen with that dent near 5.

People get pretty excited about having period-correct bezels, and that will effect the value by quite a bit.

You can factor in the cost of a correct bezel, but even with that it's a below average example because of the degradation to the dial and hands. The case has been polished, but it's not the worst I've seen. You will have to decide if it is appealing to you personally, and only after that determine an appropriate price.

Lume looks gross; that likely cannot be made any better unless the lume is removed and replaced. x3 on incorrect bezel. It would need to be cheap to consider purchasing, and then at best it would be a eater (likely with a freshly-relumed dial).

Un polished straight lug cases are going for, what 3-4K, adding another 2-3k for a reasonable bezel. And service.
And then you’d still have then hands and dial issues which granted may look better in the flesh.

If it was me - it would have to be an absolute bargain. There are better examples that won’t break the bank.

Have we identified the case manufacturer of that stamp yet?

Due to he poor dial and the fact the case has been polished then poorly rebrushed this will always be a poor- average watch.

Minus the cost of an average bezel but it's never going to be worth the world so if you're buying don't pay much.

@GeorgeSpeedy Is this your watch or something that you are being offered?

To me it looks like dial have been exposed to moisture.

This is not the correct bezel, it’s old but not the correct. It should be a dot over 90 bezel.

If you have already purchased - whilst it’s difficult to say conclusively from the hazy side image I’d suggest the crown is a later replacement.

Pushers look appropriate but a better picture will help.

@GeorgeSpeedy what is your approx budget? I see your posts are about buying an Ed White in the UK. I wonder if you are trying to run before you can walk as you have asked some pretty basic questions which possibly give a warning sign that more homework is needed. I don’t mean that unkindly. A good Ed White is going to cost you at least £10k and if you make a mistake and buy a less good one you will end up with a money pit which will cost you a fortune to improve. If indeed it can be improved. You are right to ask questions here but in addition you realistically need to study other sources too in order to avoid a catastrophic mis purchase. Buying one which appears cheap at face value is false economy in the long run, unless of course you have a stack of spare parts handy, and not many of us have. Those parts (such as bezel, dial, hands crown etc) now fetch eye watering prices. If you had the time and patience to find them, to build a mint EW from good used parts would likely now cost you upwards of £20K. Better to buy a watch which needs little rectification.

    If you haven’t already, see:

    www.speedmaster101.com

And buy yourself a copy of the book Moonwatch Only. This is not a cheap investment unfortunately, a cheaper alternative for £25 is the MWO ebook, this is a good tool for checking the correct spec of any given Speedmaster and can be carried anywhere on a phone, unlike the book of course. It is only a (very) cut down version of the book but still very useful.
