On 2/15/07 I attended the preview for Antiquorum's Omegamania in Beverly Hills,CA. In the literature I received which described the watches that were to be auctioned Pre Moons were classified as follows: Gen 1: CK 2915 Gen 2: CK 2998/ ST 105.002 Gen 3: ST 105.003-65 ST 145.012-67 is referred to as the Moon Watch due to the fact that it was worn by the crew of Apollo XI. Why are 145.022-68 & 145.022-69 commonly referred to as Pre Moons when they were produced after the Apollo XI mission? Antiquorum does not classify these models as Pre Moons.
Moonwatch really describes any Speedmaster Pro or pre-pro, even the current model from 2014 is called a moonwatch. Pre-moon typically refers to anything 145.022-69 or earlier.
I would imagine the 145.022-68/69 are considered "pre-moon" since there is no mention of the moon landings on the watch itself. After that point the "First Watch Worn On The Moon" caseback came into use.
You can visit - https://www.hq.nasa.gov/alsj/omega.html - and will see the diferent calibers and the astronaut that used in each proyect. From this official site you can confirm that only the 105012 and 145012 cal 321 were used on the moon surface. Cal 861 was used in Apollo - Soyuz and Challengers misions. Cal 861 was not used on the moon surface,
