I too love the new 39.5mm case size because it's perfect for my small male wrist. Cool new calibre 8801.
It would be really sweet to see PO in a ceramic case because I love the shades of the Moon collection.
You may yet get your wish...

YES!!! ::psy::

Now I'm hoping to see the ceramic case in royal blue, black with a touch of green, orange, red, and brown.
And a modified calibre 8801 with chronograph function. Seriously! Am I asking for too much? *fingers crossed*

I have heard a rumor that there will also be a new Rio Olympics 2016 Limited Edition Planet Ocean watch. Last year´s Bullhead might not be the official 2016 Olympic watch.

I must be in the minority, but I actually like my 45.5 MM PO 8500 case thickness.

This looks interesting - I am hoping to see more "standard" model upgrades.

I heard it will have a small mosquito with Zika virus on the tip of seconds hand, and the hour and minute hands will be in the shape of floating turds to accurately represent the conditions for the athletes at these Games...

I'd imagine there will be a black bezel PO the grey really sucked imo.

I actually like the grey - there are a lot of options for black bezel divers on the market. I liked that the "standard" option, was different.

Dear @Archer, I am surprised that someone of your professional standing and sporting accomplishments would offer such an ungracious opinion on this forum. There are several Brazilians I believe who actually consult this forum and although your criticisms might be valid, the tone and expressions used in your post could cause offence.

From what I have heard, Brazilians, with the notable exception of their football team😀, did put on a good show during the 2014 World Cup and tourists were agreeably pleased with the warm reception during the event. From what I have gathered reading the international press, the Zika virus was apparently "imported" during the World Cup finals and was not present in endemic form before that event. I hope you can find the good nature to reflect and review your post.😉

He was just kidding around, partly due to it being an Australian based forum we don't mind people taking the piss.

None of us like seeing whats on the news about the situation surrounding the spread of that virus but if you're not able to have a laugh now and then even about sensitive issues it starts to feel like less of a community and more like a funeral (or TimeZone).

@dsio FYI I love Australia: a couple of years ago I spent a wonderful nine days with my wife at the Sydney Grand Quay Suites (now a Pullman hotel) overlooking the Harbour Bridge, drinking lovey Hunter Valley Semillon, gorgeous meals at the Berowra Water´s Inn and Catalina, Seaplane tour, Bridge Climb + walking to the Opera House concerts at night and strolling around the Royal Botanic gardens during the day. We even managed to see Diesel in a local club who played a lovely rendition of Jimi´s When the Wind Cries Mary. We loved Sydney so much we are returning this year to the same hotel with our children. Coming from a UK background, I am used to dry humor, sarcasm and "takin´ the piss" in all its Cockney glory. But there are some red lines that should not be crossed IMHO.

You left off "in my opinion" at the end of your post. It's not like this is some sort of ethical dilemma that many of us would side on.

Corrected as requested. I agree ethics stem from a personal world view. Some find offending other nationalities to be fair game.
I have made my POV clear and so have you. I suggest we get back on topic.

Sorry you took offense to my post. As suggested, it was said in jest, but of course the situation in Rio "is what it is" and my small joke won't change that. As cuts33's photo shows, (assuming that is the lake and not the bay) the water venues are still quite problematic despite the promises made by the organizing committee to clean them up. The bay is still a mess and the promised clean up looks like it won't happen, and from what I have read it's not for lack of throwing money at this problem.

Yes I have competed under some terrible conditions during my times as a competitive archer. I know first hand how conditions on the field and in the living space can affect performance. Athletes learn to deal with the normal issues associated with travel to such countries, and being the type of person I am, when in Central or South America I was very cautious about what food I ate, obviously what water I drank, and even what water I used to clean my teeth with. Despite all these precautions, occasionally the package of Imodium I always had with me was needed to stem the flow. 😉

However I wasn't being asked to compete in sewage laden water, as some in Rio will have to. 🤮

It is indeed unfortunate that the Brazilian economy has tanked since they were awarded the Games. The resulting cutbacks that have been made will surely affect the performance of some athletes...and yes I will have friends there competing and coaching at these Games. I'm pleased that they have reversed their decision to eliminate A/C from the village, as that would not be a good decision at all for the athletes. It's hard enough to sleep well during competition, so having a comfortable room is important for peak performance, which from the athlete's point of view is what these events are all about.

It was certainly a gamble on the part of the IOC to have Brazil host the Games, and I for one hope it pays off. Time will tell.

Cheers, Al

One of the rules of this forum is to never go back on topic when there's a possible fight coming. This rule ALSO stems from it being Australian based.

Regarding Brasil don't confuse a joke on the conditions there as a criticism of Brasil and it's people. I think it is fair, very fair, to note that there are some.... Challenges.

I took no offence personally. I was more concerned with some South American members not understanding the piss take and taking offence. Thanks for taking the time to reply Archer and sharing your own international sporting experiences. The picture taken above is actually of a lake in Rio...and every year usually just after summer the oxygen levels become unsustainable and you have a massive fish population crash. It is highly unlikely to happen during the Brazilian winter in August during the games. Fingers crossed they manage to overcome the challenges, Brazilian self esteem seems to be at an all time low. Cheers

I fully agree with your observation on the challenges..they are indeed present and should not be papered over. I will now spill the beans...I am a UK national currently located in Rio de Janeiro. FYI the local Rio Omega Boutique has me on their VIP list and recently offered the opportunity for me to take part in the Olympic Torch relay in Porto Seguro (May 2016) as an Omega representative (flight, hotel and all expenses paid by Omega). Unfortunately I had to decline due to a previous international business engagement . During the Games I will be in Australia and New Zealand with my family..we will come back for the final few days and watch some of the athletic finals. FYI Omega will have several VIP events happening during the games and are also investing in local social initiatives in the Rio "favelas". Cheers
