Rare power outage. We are on the same circuit as the hospital and there is a main cell tower (ant farm) across from us that handles emergency coms for the county. (which uses generators in such circumstances.)
And I am burning minutes, that I never use, using the phone hotspot.

Of course I just bought my new bench lamps this afternoon. One of them can take USB input. And I have a power brick, which I sometimes use to run a rasberry pi.

So just enough light to work on the bench, till the brick dies. Oh the irony. Especially as the power went just as I hit return on my post.

Downside is that it makes it hard to bid on watches. Perhaps I will get that watch after all.

Amazing, though how systems have become somewhat reliable, and that there are limited backups.

And what did you do when the world ended?

Two solutions for our brave new world of energy production.....1) the sun shines tomorrow and you'll have solar produced electricity, or 2) the wind starts blowing and you'll have wind produced electricity. Eezy peezy.

The power is back, and I got the watch. First watch of 2022.

Another AS. What I want is the case. Although I still have a lot of Evap-O-Rust. Which I used on the other AS 1187/94 movements. I have other bridges. And about 1/2 dozen spring barrels and gears. The clutch looks good and the balance may be salvageable.

Probabaly time to start soaking the Val-72 parts in Evap-O-Rust.

I was going to post photos of the de-rusted movements but for the power issue. The new light works great and I got more of one of the other movements partly assembled.

You really are the rust guru of the OF! While everyone else cringes and runs to the shadows when they see a rusty movement, your eyes light up for the challenge! I applauded you!

I’ll post a thread of a spare rusty movement I have for your advice.

That is literally the face I made lol.
I've been thinking about getting a generator installed. Being in Florida, we get some nasty storms.
We're good for at least one decently long power outage a year.
