Fair enough I will keep it in mind! To answer your question, I was a 'Stagiare' in the product department, meaning I was the apprentice to Longines' designer at the time.

Just drooled over a solid gold Longinnes today, it was all slippery when they put it back in the case.

 

Here's the info I got from Longines: "a Longines mechanical manually wound movement, caliber 10.68Z (also called 10L in the USA). It was invoiced on 16 July 1942 to the company Longines-Wittnauer Watch Co., which was at that time our agent for the USA. " I've heard this model also called a "Mainliner", but I don't know if that is accurate. The case is 10k, gold filled and made by Wadsworth, 39mm lug to lug and 26mm without crown.

I took the Strap off to clean the dirt between the lugs.
I'm not sure if I will change it for a different Strap. If She doesn't like the Strap, I pm you and send it free of charge to France.

 

Lovely watch with an unusual case and dial. Crown is correct too, which is nice. I agree with @Syrte, the strap is a perfect fit... Or should I say a terrible fit?

Searched the internet for 3 days to find a loolalike but didnt succeed.

Not exactly certain if you are asking about this but the sliding gear on the caliber 30CH travels vertically to disengage the minute recording runner when resetting.

Something special my watchmaker told me.
Has someting to do with the reset of the sweeper.
Normally the sweeper returns in 1 direction.
That part makes it possible to reset the sweeper in the shortest direction.
Hope you understand what i mean.

Furthermore he had the same explanation as dirtydozen.

I guess I haven't seen anything that far outside of the movement, covering up the bridge. That's why I was a little confused.

Got this beautiful Longines ”Calatrava” yesterday, ref: 5356 with the classical 12.68z movement.

Im in love with these cases even though the thicker and sharper lugs on erlier references from the 40s is even better!

Measures 35mm but wears much bigger due to the long lugs and much dial.

 

My BigEye is a month old today. Have a Sector on the way and now looking into a few vintage pieces. Longines-tagion has set in, apparently.
