Well it's cheating slightly as it's not mine. I did bid pretty strongly but it wasn't to be . Auctioned at the end of last year... https://www.the-saleroom.com/en-gb/...0016/lot-0d70d3e9-3c8b-4bcf-afee-a82d00c0e174
This one, in a full 18 karat gold case, belonged to my grandfather, I inherited it back in about 1973. It sat in a safety deposit box here in Montreal for about 25 years. In 2003 I went to work for a division of Swatch Group in Switzerland at which point I brought it to the original Gubelin shop in Lucerne for a complete refurb. They replaced the crystal, dial and hands (still had original parts!) but unfortunately I was too naive/uninformed at the time to request a return of those parts to me...I got the replaced mainspring and a few other bits, but no dial or other nostalgic/original parts. Aside from their potential original value, the original dial also said "Lucerne" under the Gubelin brand, which is how I found them to begin with. This new dial lacks the city ID as there are Gubelin shops all over the country now. Oh well, lesson learned. At least I now have an as-new 75 year old watch!
I have long been a fan of Gübelin, and will dig out some photos. Meanwhile, here's a blast from the past that lovers of fine movements may enjoy: http://www.watchprosite.com/horolog...-marriage--is-it-possible-/17.865583.5892538/
Not my Gübelin, but probably one of the most valuable in existence: http://www.pictame.com/media/1542912147033702093_3913209900 gatorcpa
Wonderful article ... also a reminder that I have barely scratched the surface of this thing of ours. The watch in the article is just stunning.
A couple more TDM ! I was OCD Gubelin ! The rose gold deco one has crazy applied markers, its a masterpiece IMHO !
I find myself in a similar dilemma with a lovely Universal Geneve Chronomètre 28 movement acquired recently. Although in a completely different category to your amazing Jubilé Gübelin dial and Audemars Piguet VZSSc, it could deserve a similar recognition.
Close, but no cigar. The Amagnetic is somewhat of a cult watch. Steel versions can bring more than gold ones. https://www.hodinkee.com/articles/patek-philippe-amagnetic-watches gatorcpa
