    Hi OF,

Inspired thread by @kyle L ’s barn find UG here, thought I might start with my early Polarouter and early patent pending Microtor Polerouter below,

My barn find is this Evil Nina:
    F76A9CF2-85D1-4886-A068-B0FC4E300D80.jpeg

Case is in tremendous shape, hands need a cleaning but are original and will look great. Terrible strap and poor dial being the key issues.

I’ve now got a NOS dial:

And the watch is heading to the spa for a movement service, cleaning and dial installation.

Just missing a NOS bezel and original beads of rice bracelet and end links and this one will be perfect.

I’ll post the after pictures once I get it back from service.

I don't know if it is really a barn find but I was happy to find this one for a couple of hundred euros...

That’s a great idea for a thread, I don’t have a barn find UG alas but the subject could deserve a general thread for all brands... unless there’s one I have missed?

    Great idea for a thread!
Guess my Polarouter is a kind of barn find, even if I found it on Ebay. Was a gamble as I thought I was scammed, but worked out fine at the end.

Movement was in poor condition, but has been resurrected. Now on a JB Champion brachelet shining bright...

O.K. Might add my early automatic Universal Geneve too. Wasn´t a bargain compared to the Polarouter, but still got it for a very reasonable price in the face of the rarity of the watch. I haven´t found another example of these very first automatic wristwatches of Universal Geneve during my research.

So a barn find is usually defined as a desirable vintage car that has resided in someone’s garage or barn forgotten and buried under boxes etc for years. Are we talking crap photo on e bay that you took a shot at and or the famous $4 Goodwill Jaeger or a flea market, garage sale find or all of the above?

    Nice barn find!

I kinda like the "poor dial" -- at least from the photo you posted. It appears to have a nice patina

    All of the above.

Here is another one of mine, rare black dial Compur 30. Was quite a gamble, the watch was located in the US, and I had to sent the watch to @LouS first so he can inspect it in person to determine the originality of the dial. Thanks again @LouS!!

That gambling payed out well for you. Sometimes I wonder who sellers manage to make the most awful pictures. That black gilt dial is so beautiful

9 out of 10 of my purchases are gambles - that's the fun part of this hobby! :D

I don't have any UG gambles worthy of posting here (well... perhaps later this week ;) ), but I do have one Mido:

It's really a shame that the hands have been painted black. Otherwise it'd be pretty close to perfect.

At least it was cheap ;)
