Omega's move upmarket has placed Quartz models on the chopping board. With time these will be very rare and collectible. Think Rolex Oysterquartz.
Has there been official notification from Omega that there will be no quartz watches in its catalogue? It would make sense to get rid of quartz duplicates such as those found in the Aqua Terra line, but the continued availability of quartz movements for ladies 27mm and 24mm case sizes makes both practical, and business sense to me.
"Thing I have will be valuable soon because its not made anymore" does tend to happen a lot in people's minds, even when it falls into the good riddance category like most of the watches Omega made in the 80s and almost every American car from the 80s 90s and 2000s. Thankfully we've all moved on. As Stephen Urquhart retires from the helm of Omega I think he'll be remembered as much for the models he discontinued as much as for the new ones he ushered in.
What do you mean??? This watch is TIMELESS! Oh wait no, not timeless - hideous. That's the word I was looking for.
An Omega modern Quartz is going to go up in value in the next few years. I no longer visit WUS. I stopped about 12+ months ago. I still periodically list watches for sale there, and that has worked so much better than eBay, so that is a plus. Aside from that not much reason to go there these days.
This guy wanted $14,500 in 2010.. http://www.carscoops.com/2010/07/found-for-sale-1987-yugo-gv-sport-with.html
As a favor to another loan officer, I repossessed a Yugo like that one and drove it back to the bank. Good thing it was a short trip for my knees were on either side of my ears, and that was with the seat all the way back. Only a slight exaggeration.
If two people are in a Yugo, it becomes a Wego. Didn't Bic make them? Disposable razors, disposable lighters, disposable cars.....
There was a drive by trolling by some weirdo that got irritated with the truthful answers they were getting, and one of their angry posts was: Darlin Boy adopted it early on, so it seemed a good time to use it on him.
The Yugo photo reminded me of another timeless classic: the Adobe Watch the video here: [RIP Phil Hartman] http://www.nbc.com/saturday-night-live/video/adobe/n9492 image credit: www.nbc.com
