They are easily shortened by first removing the spring connectors on the sides and then the required number of links. you then join it back up by pushing the U clips back in.

If you have any old Speidels or similar you can experiment until you get the knack.

    A word of warning.

Make sure you absolutely want the band on the watch, they are extremely difficult to remove if you change your mind.

Putting it on is not exactly easy, either.

    Here you go.

    Step 1.

Stretch the bracelet slightly so that you can get the jaws of fine tipped serrated pliers onto the "U" clip.

And then hold the bracelet and pull the clip out.

    Step 2.

Pull the two parts of the bracelet apart by sliding one section from the other.

    Step 3.

After removing enough links, push or slide the sections together over the U clip on one side, then set the opposite U clip in position.

    Step 4.

Make sure the U clips are set to the outboard side of the centre leaf spring inside the link, and then push in to place with pegwood or other non-marking tool.

    Good luck with it.

    Cheers

At least this type of metal bracelet has some kind of pins which can be removed.
Easiest way to shorten a bracelet are those metal / steel bracelets which come with either little screws or with pins which are arrowed pointing the direction to push the pins out.
It's a whole other story with folded metal bracelets which come without neither pins, screws nor slides to remove links. An example are the late 1960s & early 1970s Gay Frères metal bracelets for which we need to bend an inner link open in order to shorten the metal bracelet by getting a few links out... Done extremely careful with a kitchen knife ::shy::
