When I got my Watchco Seamaster 300, my Speedmaster immediately left the wrist. I'd thought about putting the alpha hands on, which I did, and while it's a little more elegant in my opinion... I still want to wear the Seamaster. Ah well I guess the Speedmaster will have some wrist time when the Seamaster has to go for servicing. Tom
You know, I have done such a thing with the rest of the collection... "weird watch Friday", so to speak. Haven't even been in the mood for that, this Seamaster has captivated me so with its bright lume and automatic movement! Tom
Just for reference, this is the collection I settled on, and whatever I have left over is going to get sold (including a nice 6497 recase). Tom
Top: Watchco Seamaster 300; 57 Replica with hands and bezel replaced Bottom: 1917 Ingersoll Midget, relumed, original strap; 1917 Elgin "Foch", 1945 Elgin Type A-11, circa 1920 Ferrero "trench", circa 1907 Waltham Tom
sweet..... love the selection of those pre WWII watches. the Elgin especially, plus a couple of solid beaters (top row) to spread out the load.
How long have you had the Seamaster? Still the honeymoon period? I think those two watches are the perfect compliment to eachother. They are like brother and sister to the same parents. Give it time. And in the end, if you feel like you've moved past the speedy, you can always sell it. Try storing the speedy out of sight for a month and then wear it for a week straight afterward to see if you could rebond with it.
I got the Seamaster 300 in late February. I think I've worn a different watch perhaps ten times since then. It's just... perfect. Tom
Curiously, I have an original SM 300 hardly ever wear it. Maybe i should sell it to someone that will wear it more...and get another speedmaster.
