Hey, the Squirrel may not have teeth anymore but he can still dispense whatever lessons are needed.

I think @FullyWound needs a new avatar - Tweek from South Park:

Good point! Focusing on the small details I missed the bigger picture.

A little while ago a Speedmaster Professional was offered here with a pre-Professional dial, and I'm so used to quickly going over the smaller details to figure out what it is that I completely missed that (very important) issue ::facepalm2::

    Heurlow, n00b here.

Errm may I make small request? @FullyWound Do you have a slightly tighter photo of the caseback? From 2 or 3 slightly different top angles. Something similar to the last image in OP.

Just for fun really. I'm not going to say one way or the other. As this is why out of my league.

So I can only offer comedy for a friday night giggle.

@FullyWound Just some Photoshoping you can do it if you like get a few angles of case back. Turn image into a negative. Mess with contrast a little see if there is any writing. Love to see what you turn up. Evidence of removal some markings or bugger all.

The rest was banter. Jehova Jehova...

Got another! i'm on a heuer mission...

right anyone anywhere actually know how many "shauntavias" there are? any info hoarders? serial databases? definitive authorities?

Also im speculating but those (currently) manky looking hands on the KAF one (came today) are CORRECT? more "military" maybe?

It's like waiting for a London Bus. You wait an eternity for the first to arrive. Then hey presto, there is another one right behind it ::shy::

    There's your KAF marking.

I'd suggest the OnTheDash Heuer forum (not the Calibre 11 TAG Heuer forum) where there's more info about vintage Heuers.

To members of OTD reading this: I'm sorry

Just had a tinker in gimp {The free Photoshop}.

If you are getting nr1 serviced ask the watchmaker, is there a noticeable difference in the thickness on the edge compared to center. Yes I'd expect there to be natural ware and tare.

If you are getting both serviced, compare thickness of nr1 vs nr2.

Just my 10p if your at all interested.

Nr1 is not a "Military standard" from partial conclusions and VERY sparse actual bloody evidence! its not got the i'm now going to call the PURPOSE military hands its got the viceroy hands possibly AS civilian NOT military but these are my own partial conclusions from what little i can find! so i may be wrong...

no there is no real excessive wear they have never really been polished just worn so good sharp edges no real loss of "edge" just banged around. good examples to restore
