So thanks to the Brand Loyalty thread I became interested in Persol sunglasses. With all the buzz I was curious.
Okay, so Steve McQueen rocked them - cool. Maflecto System for comfort and stability - innovative. Designed for the utility of tram drivers - good heritage. Hand crafted in Italy - you’ve sold me.
Wait! $300?! That’s twice the price of my Ray-Bans.
Luckily I stumbled upon a Disenchanted owner on eBay with a pair that had been pretty heavily scratched when dropped on the sidewalk for $20.
Well, incrementally and gently sanding the acetate down with 400 to 1000 to 1500 sandpaper, then a little bit of elbow grease and Polywatch, and, viola, nearly like new! Polywatch worked wonders on the acetate frames and acrylic lenses.

Now if only it would stop raining here for a day so I could wear them without overloading people with my coolness - wearing sunglasses at night.

Too bad the polywatch can´t find sunglasses 😁 I always lost them, not stratch them.

Do these sunglasses have a UV coating on the front surface? If so you may have removed it and they may put your eyes at risk. I could be completely wrong, but it is worth a little more research.

From the minimal information published by Persol, it appears they sandwich the UV protection between two lenses.

Are the lenses original? Frames? Hinges? Nose pads? Everything correct for the reference? Did you check the serial number? Get an extract? How do you know that it’s genuine acetate and not that inferior imitation acetate? You realize that you may have devalued the vintage value of the sunglasses by polishing them, right?

Oh, wait a minute. Force of habit, sorry! 😝
