Hello Guys, Since the release of the 50th anniv. Apollo 11 has been a bit of a letdown for me, I am now considering getting a pristine 3570.40 instead. What do you think: Japan Racing OR Apollo 11 50th? Would appreciate the community's thoughts on this choice. Some context to my poll: - have a deposit on the Apollo 11 50th, so not an issue to get one. - unfortunately, I can't wait until I can see the Apollo 11 "Buzz' Moon" in "the flesh" (yes, pun intended!) - also, to keep things simple, let's assume the purchase price is the same here. - I already have the Tintin racing... so was thinking of rounding up my collection... especially since I could afford the 1969 for sale with Phillips 9! - Other than the Tintin, I already have a 2998-4, a 145.022 and the ST1... so quite loaded in Speedies already. - For the sake of this poll... "Buy BOTH" is NOT an option, but "buy NEITHER and save" MAY BE one. Lastly, no thread is a decent one without pics, so here we go (not my pics, but courtesy of Omega):
Apollo 11 50th anniversary for sure! I find it surprising that so many people seem to favor the Japan racing--you would think with the 1400+ posts that filled the 50th Anniversary in Steel thread, a lot more people would be in favor of the 50th anniversary...
As you already have a TT then it has to be Apollo 11. Like many others I cant wait to see one in the flesh and on the wrist.
Love cars. So: Japan. It brings out the Speed in Speedmaster. Also love how the orange colors are slightly different on different pieces due to age.
I’m leaning towards the Apollo 11. I was initially disappointed when I first saw it, but it has been gradually growing on me. Here is hoping that it nicer in the flesh.
Purely on design wise: Japan Racing for me. If you want to use it: Apollo 11 for me, not because of the design, but because of the new movement
