I have 145.022 that has worst midcase I have seen. Watch had a hard life :).

My question is if this case is saveable with polishing or would be better to buy used (in better condition) whole midcase and exchange it?

    Thank you

I would keep the case in this original condition : no polishing ;)

Is this an early serial -69 Speedie?

If the condition of the case keeps you from wearing the watch, then I would use as the last resort laser welding on the dings with a very gentle polishing / brushing at some one who have these capabilities.

A hard life indeed--but what seems to be a life it wears well. The case, bezel, and dial all wear their age and scars in a good way. As Seaborg says, I'd leave the case unpolished and unchanged--otherwise you will throw the visual history of the watch all out of whack.

I’d keep it original. If you don’t care for it, maybe sell it and look for another speedmaster in the condition you want. It is getting harder to find honest, original speedmasters. It seems they’ve all had some part replaced or been polished or had their case backs scratched all to hell.

I actually like the look of this watch, what I can see of it, it looks like it has lived a life as a tool watch. Not in a drawer.
