I recently picked up this Polerouter Date with Gay Freres bracelet and I thought it would be interesting to show it next to the other case shape with bombe lugs.

I bought it as you don't see many with bracelets. Underneath the clasp is printed the Gay Freres logo as well as the UG shield.

Unfortunately there is some spotting on the dial and the crystal looks to have been replaced as it does not have the window but I'm pleased nonetheless. DSCF0481.jpg

I will be the first to admit that UG GF bracelets take many forms (as can be seen on the budding GF thread in this subforum).

That being said, I have never seen a UG GF beads of rice type bracelet like that. It looks more like an Omega bracelet. Also, the UG clasp maybe looks to have different wear patters than the rest of the bracelet. Perhaps it is a put together?

    Thoughs, anybody?

Thanks. I'm beginning to think you may be right.

The clasp is marked exactly as in the photo below (not actually my bracelet but image borrowed from another thread) even down to the date. The clasp therefore appears to be genuine UG and presumably original to the watch.

I have however been unable to find a photo of another UG GF bracelet of this type. In addition the end links are not marked as I understand GF end links typically are. This could suggest that the bracelet was replaced with a non GF bracelet and matched with the original clasp. Having said that, everything seems to fit together nicely, the end links fit the case perfectly and there are no obvious signs of the bracelet having being cobbled together.

I suspect this will end up on eBay in the near future. Keep an eye out if you're looking for a Polerouter Date with a touch of patina and/or an original UG GF clasp.

Yes, the clasp is certainly legitimate, though possibly (probably) not original to the watch. It's the rest of the bracelet that is very likely not original.

Apparently the writer is ignorant of the fact (as likely the buyer is, too) that the bracelet is a put-together of a UG clasp and a non-UG bracelet.

These writers need to learn their game...

I agree that the bracelet is likely 'put-together'. Still a nice watch, and I like the dial patina.

In my view, there is nothing unfortunate about it - wear it with pride! Here to say hello is my own beefy lug Cal. 69, also with patina.

Also, just for fun, a quick but fuzzy side-by-side along with my Cal. 215. Thanks for sharing and have a great weekend, everyone.
