saw several casebacks like that with no visiable engravings.

Does that mean that the logo / numbers have vanished by wear / polishing or are there casebacks without any inscription?

I'm not notice sure if there are any case backs without factory inscriptions on the outside for these models, but the engraving is light and often disappears with wear and or polish.
This is known.

Not all models came with an inscription on the case back.

I'm not sure if it's truly known which have the engraving on the case back.

I know that three of my Polerouters with the Gerald Genta cases have never had an inscription on the case back.

Cal. 215 with only Microtor on the dial and both my "Big U" variation dials.

 

I agree that not all case backs had the engraving.

Of the three you've described above, are the case reference and serial numbers on the outside of the case back?
