I know this has nothing to do with omega or watches but....
    Who plays?
    online or live games?
    whats your favorite variant?

I run a little pub game that we have a league for points that gets us a "final table" game at Christmas on a Tuesday night
i also enjoy a live tourney at various casinos on most Friday nights depending on the value.
i don't play much online anymore unless trying to satellite into bigger live tournaments

I used to play quite a bit, but pretty much replaced my poker hobby with watches around 15 years ago. Playing online got complicated and annoying in the US over the years, and playing in casinos was always slightly depressing to me (around 20 years ago there were almost no live tourneys, which I agree are much more fun, so I played a lot of limit hold em cash games. It was generally a handful of people who knew what we were doing and avoiding each other and taking turns pouncing on the weaker players, most of whom appeared to not be able to afford to lose as much as they did. It made me sad).

I used to go out to Las Vegas a few times a year and play in weekend tourneys at Binions, back then they were really the only tournaments to be found. They were fun and I cashed most of the time and even won occasionally. I keep thinking about getting back into it but unlike watches it takes me away from my family longer than I want at this point. Someday I'll get back into it. I'm genuinely curious to know if I'm any good any more. I'm guessing not....:D

Played almost every card game since I was a kid.
Played in a couple of private poker games close to home when I got home from Viet Nam :(
It cost me a couple of thousands to learn how to play, but I learned.
I had a regular Monday night poker game in the back room of my tavern for years.
I was invited to a Country Club game a few years ago, but that came to an end.
Occasionally I go to a casino in Cleveland and play limit hold-em' and I do Ok :)

Funny you bring this up, I just called around yesterday to get a game going Saturday. These days I'm lucky if I can get 5 people together. We always played tourney style but with the lack of heads I went and ordered more chips for my set so we can play cash games (hasn't happened yet but I'm trying for this weekend's first cash game) 10 years ago we'd have to decline people from joining and now I ask and get....... yeah maybe I'll play........... ::censored:: bro's, I need a yes or no Haha. Sucks getting old and adulting

Heres a few pics of my table from this fall. Got it from a local horse track who used to run a good poker room but they shut down years ago. Just resurfaced and repadded the rail.

Really nice! Add a few small tables to keep the beverages off the felt and 8 comfortable chairs and I'll be there ;)

I got 10 matching chairs and every 2 chairs shares an end table with cup holders built in (Not shown) Only thing I'm missing is people. It went from a monthly game to maybe......... maybe once every 3 months. The sad part is, nobody has plans, they just can't commit and instead sit at home on the couch like a bunch of slobs.

I play online poker for a living. Played WSOP main, EPTs etc live. On my 12th year as a pro but decided to give it up even though money is good.

I play in a monthly home tourney followed by a small scale cash game. Yes, always difficult to get players to commit. Great fun though. My dad taught me how to play when I was 11 or12.

Me: nodding in agreement that people need to commit and play. While sitting on the couch reading OF...

I have some buddies that play every blue moon, but with jobs and kids it’s harder to get games together. Plus there is this certain rock and hard place situation that happens when you’re setting up games. Either you are taking money from your friends, or you’re wasting time hanging out with strangers when you could’ve been hanging out with friends...

I’ve been involved with poker for 19 years now, first job after graduating University with a Maths degree and downhill from there, my poor parents.

I now help run and deal high stakes cash games in a Mayfair casino in London, although only part time due to looking after our little lad and my wife’s high flying career, I married well!

The biggest problem is how desensitised I’ve become to premium watches, everyday I work I see the worlds best timepieces and get to talk watches with some very interesting characters. You may not believe me (I wouldn’t blame you, this is the internet) but I dealt to a guy wearing a Rainbow Daytona not that long ago, ridiculous thing.

Great quote and I feel the same sometimes.

Your project hits close to home as I have bought supplies to make a poker table conversion to go over the pool table I got last year. Mine will be rectangular with drink holder inserts over each pocket but end result should work similarly.

I enjoy playing poker (for fun only) and have hosted 2 low-key events at my home. First one I had a few friends over for a game using chips with no cash involved. The second one I had a few people over with small value buy-in and we played several elimination / tournament style games. I hope to have a third game later this month and I'm thinking of going to a cash buy-in game and so I bought additional chips to make it work.

Playing the game for real with some friends for a few quid is a great way to spend a few evenings.
Online has diluted the whole experience for me, I played maybe 17 years ago online on small stake tables for a little while and had some fun. Won a little, lost a little but the creeping in of people who thinks they know how to play and as a result sit online without a care in the world and do things like going all in with off suit 3&6 so your picture pair stacks up well and you call only to see a 3 and then a 6 laid on turn 4&5.
Happens so often it’s just not funny.

Blimey, I thought with two decades worth of Christmas novelty casino gifts I’d seen the lot but that takes the biscuit. Bizarre 24 hour chapter ring.

My dad and his colleagues use to have a monthly game. Between him and my grandmother they first starting teaching me about 28 years ago. Currently I play in a local house game on most weekends, when I’m not traveling for work.

Decided to hit the local casino last night for a tourney, which I don’t enjoy as much as cash games. I’ve always had thoughts that once I retire, I will just play poker for a living but I know it’s just a pipe dream. ::screwloose::

This thread is also missing a “real watch”.

I used to play in a regular weekly local cash buy in tournament. Just friends or friends of friends but honestly I got sick of how seriously some people took it and have found better things to do with my Friday nights. I would like to think I was an ok player, cashed in plenty of times and won plenty of times outright but just couldn't see the point of it all after a while.

Same here. I get games together so we have something to do and lost play for fun and others think it's all about the money. We have to play for money so everyone plays serious (in other words with nothing to lose people would just go all in every hand) So I'll do a 20 dollar buy in with an average of 2 to 2.5 hour tourney style game. "Some guys" complain it should be 50 or more...... relax people, it's just for fun
