    Hi,

Does anyone have any insights on the hands used on this watch? From what I can tell most Seamaster's seem to have either Dauphine hands or the regular (non-pointed) Baton hands. The ones seen below seem to be legit Omega hands [1,2] but I can't place them. It seems they were used on watches that are even older than the Seamaster Chrono. How could that happen? A sloppy service? Something else?

Seamaster chronos.JPG Seamaster chronos.JPG You need to look at the SN to get a date range, but I am guessing that the hands were replaced during a service. For comparison purposes, the chrono on the far right is from around 1953 with similar but not the same hands, and the ones with the alpha hands that are the second to the left and the second to the right are from around 1959. I think your watch should have stick hands like the one on the left. [Not sure why the pic is upside down, so if the watches are showing upside down you need to stand on your head to understand my comments correctly. Is there a way to rotate a pic here?]

Yes, that's what I thought! Thanks! I think I might swap them as soon as I come across some vintage Tritium hands. Still sorts of odd to me why someone would service a watch and swap out hands for even older ones?!
