Looking to pick up my first Omega watch. Went to the OB and was drawn to the Seamaster Planet Ocean Deep Black and the Speedmaster Dark Side of the Moon.



Since I'm new to Omega, what would you suggest and/or recommend? I'd love to be able to buy both, but can only purchase one at this time and for the foreseeable future.

the deep black wears much larger and taller, be sure to wear them both.

Both amazing but Id prefer the dsotm, a future classic imho...

Speedy for sure.

 

DSOTM is the easy choice.

 

It may sound like a cliché but buy what you like most. The Speedy is definitely more versatile IMO.

 

Are you a Scuba diver or need GMT, the ability to track a second time zone?

If not the deep black is a large wearing watch which might limit you.

Between those two I would choose the DSOTM. Great looking watch and excellent chronograph. If you need a pure sports diver and will only use for casual wear, the PO Deep black is the clear option between the two.

If you want a black look sports GMT with a black ceramic bezel I would wait until Basel to see if this is released and the then compare it with the PO black:

 

I had to make a difficult decision between three of the DSOMs.

I went for the Pitch Black DSOM.

The original DSOM was my third choice.

They are all nice watches, but I wanted the full lume.

 

Both very nice but I'm partial to the DSOTM

Last night a few of us went to the OB.

One bought the Deep Black.

It wore pretty comfortable despite its thickness. It is an amazing watch.

 

I loves me most everything Omega but I find both of these wear too big ... and I have myself large wrists and huge hands. I want to love them, but I just can't. If you're happy with the size, I prefer the look of the Planet Oceans ... if you want the chronograph, turn to the Dark Side.

Wear them. Don't just try them on but size the bracelet, enjoy the free coffee and wear them for a while before deciding.

 

The speedy works in ceramic but the PO doesn't. Get the speedy with the Ceramic/Ti deployment and add the pitch back strap.

 

Go for the Speedy! DSOTM!

 

Will head back to OB in near future to try the watches again. Hopefully, I'll be able to make a decision. ;-)

 

I would go for DSOTM in this case. For me if it has date window , I can wear it everyday. I love my PO but if I have to compare with the DSOTM . DSTOM wins!

 

I vote for the speedmasters.
