Instead of the pins that were pushed out from one side to the other, Omega updated the new 8500 PO with this pin system. There are little screws covering the new pins. and these pins slide right out easily. No more pushing.

The screws keep the pins in place - the pins keep the link in. No more messing with a pin pusher. Very easy. Here are the screws and pins and a shot of the screwed in link.

Far better system. Messing around with those pins was always frustrating (yes, I have the tool).

Now if only Omega could do away with that half link and give a micro-adjustment....

They've done it on the PloProf brilliantly, tool free finger operated micro adjust, and its brilliant. Its also a 20mm clasp so there's no real reason why they couldn't move it to the PO line, it even fits onto the mesh bracelets just like the PO.

I had on the PO bracelet today. I NEED the micro adjust for it to fit the way I would like it to. I took the half link off and now it is a little too tight. With the half link I feel like it is flopping around. Back to the mesh for a perfect fit. I love the Rolex micro link on the GMTII I had. Why doesn't Omega rip this off?!?!?!

How does this work exactly? Do you have to unscrew both sides? Or just one side and let the pin slide out?

I also wish Omega had a micro adjustment. I've been spoiled by my SubC but it won't prevent me from getting the new PO 8500.

Does anyone know if that new bracelet will fit my PO? As muck as I enjoy playing amatuer watchmaker the screws would make my life easier.

Interesting question, you'd think so I suppose but I don't really think you need to. The cost effective way would be to just go out and buy 2-3 replacement links of the new style and fit them to the bracelet you already have replacing 2-3 of your current removable links.

You'll never need to add or remove more than 2-3 links and you can keep the rest of the bracelet clasp and bushing links intact and use those for sizing as required.

Adding new style links to the old style bracelet may not look good. The old bracelet has curved center links. The new one has flat ones.

Hmm that's an interesting point, you'd probably get away with using the half-links one on each side or however many you needed as they look different anyway.

That much I know, and like too. But I was thinking of switching out the entire bracelet. The case on the 8500 is thicker than my PO, so I assume the end link is also different. But I am not certain.

Would it be a 1.6mm or a 1.8mm screwdriver to unscrew the screws of a 8500 PO XL?
Thanks in advance for your advice.

I'd like to ask the same question about the screwdriver size for the 8500 PO 42mm? Thank you also. :)
