I asked one that question and got no response. It is annoying and makes me uncomfortable buying from them.

I started blocking them on my saved searches. I wouldn't buy anything from them.

Essentially, this is ppl doing reselling. Say there's a shop w/ web presence, watches online with pics, etc. I, an individual go to your site, rip your pics, and post it on Ebay, upping the price to cover my fees + profit. If I get an uninformed buyer that bites, great. I go buy it and ship it. If not, its relatively little work.

I believe this is exactly what is happening. Some of these sellers have poor reviews that say “seller didn’t have the watch” or “seller was selling the watch for somebody else”. They’re gambling that the watch is still for sale when they get a bite

It's not great, particularly if arbitrageurs are sloppy about offering watches they can't get, but it's also a service: sellers like this are making watches available to buyers who otherwise wouldn't have access to them, in exchange for a fee.

When you see this you can usually just find the watches in Japan from the original sellers. They're often on Yahoo Auctions Japan; I've used Buyee with success to facilitate purchases and shipping.

Sadly my trusted Japanese sellers (Kabarui etc) seem to have pulled up stumps and given up selling.

I never realized that, but it explains why they often have such low resolution photos. It always frustrates me.

I live here, which is how I stumbled upon this as I'd see pics from well known Japanese shops on ebay/Y! from non-official accounts. If you need anything, just shoot me a DM, happy to pick up the slack of your previous forwarding company.

This is better with pictures of said issue:

although it says the seller is in the US, it shows the location as Tokyo
