Just a little ínput/confirmation on the ´70 vs ´71 production. I have been looking into the matter for some time, since I was seeking a Speedy produced in the first days of january 1971.
I don't think that you will find a much earlier 1971 speedy ;-) It's a 145.022-69 pre-moon caseback and with a 220 Bezel. Serial 31.003.7xx

Hi kox and all, OP here...

I am not 100% sure on how to read this info:

Here's what I make out of it: if your movement with number 31.003.xxx was produced Jan 4th 71, than its likely/possible that the movement 31.000.xxx (3000 numbers earlier) was produced in 1970 and possibly cased / sold in '71. Which is in line with the case back. Or am I off base with my rationale?

Thx for any further comments (should I be off base)

cheers, Al

No because the casebacks were ordered in batches at least a few months before watch production date (when not 1-2 years earlier). Thus in the 31.000.xxx range, you should have a -69 caseback (-70 did not exist), but as exceptions are possible, you must know production date.

Ah. I thought 31xxxxxx spilled over into '71.

Presumably even '69s with a serial this high would have had a DNN bezel?
I also own a -69 with 31008xxx with a DNN bezel.
